Everett Matthew is Twenty Months Old - 06.10.2019

Everett Matthew is twenty months old!

This month, Everett has picked up a few very important words: "yeah," "uh huh," "mine!" "ha-low" (hello), "ah-puh" (iPad), "ah-puh" (apple - or any round fruit), and "ninny now" (mickey mouse). For a long while, he's been very good about answering "no," often complete with head shaking and arm waving (think: an umpire calling safe), but for the affirmative, he'd mostly just smile and maybe giggle a little. Now he very clearly says either "no," "yeah," or "uh huh." Often the "yeah" or "uh huh" are quiet and sound like he's responding with big puppy-dog eyes. It's pretty cute. Everett has begun to string words together saying things like "buh-bye, daddy" (although sometimes he adds an extra and says "buh-bye-bye, daddy"), and "mommy cook," "daddy['s] coat." He calls himself "Eh-vah" and I believe Emery has changed from "ah-duh" to "Em-mah." He calls babies "buh-bye." When I ask Everett, "where's the baby?" Sometimes he points to my belly, but he mostly points to himself and says, "buh-bye" (baby) or "Eh-va!" (Everett).

Everett points to t-shirts with words on them and calls all the letters "I." He has started to climb stairs by holding on to the railing and stepping up, rather than always crawling up.

Everett still has three teeth on top with the fourth one slowly coming in, and three on bottom with the fourth one kinda far behind. Then he's got four molars. But don't think this slows him down. He's started enjoying apples (cut up pieces or even taking bites out of a whole apple) and chicken nuggets. He even helped himself to a (unauthorized!) bite of a peach at the grocery store! Oh toddlers!

A few weeks ago, we all traveled to Virginia to watch Blake graduate with his PhD from George Mason University. Emery and Everett did very well on the airplanes and sitting in the graduation ceremony. We met some friends at our favorite park - Burke Lake Park - and Everett got to ride the train that Emery loves for the first time. We even discovered in the hot sticky weather that Everett's hair is wavy when it gets humid out!

We love this sweet little guy!
