seven months old - 9.27.12

emery annabelle is seven months old! she can almost push up on all fours - in fact, one of the pictures here is of her very first time almost all the way on to her knees! she's working hard to pick her hips up off the ground. yesterday, i held a toy just out her reach and she tried and tried to push up and scoot towards the toy. finally, after lots of great effort, i gave her the toy and she put it in her mouth and kept trying! we've both noticed that she's a hard worker! she wants to figure things out!

she babbles: yayaya, nanana, and her favorite: dadada. she also squeals, laughs, and jabbers all the time.

for the last few nights, we've been trying to see if she could settle herself when we laid her down for bed without putting her in the sleep sack right away. however, instead of winding down, she winds up! she flops all over the crib, rolls around, puts her pacifier in, then out, then in, then out, rolls to her tummy and looks right at us and when i say: "emery, lie down," she squeals and flops over. she's a nut!! it's too funny! then, once we zip her up, she's asleep in minutes. we're transitioning from a tight velcro wrap to a looser zip-up wrap that's stretchy. she's been using this one for naps and really, she's too big for the velcro one, so we've made the switch for nighttime too. she does fine and i think it's a good middle point for transitioning to sleeping without it. plus, they don't make the velcro ones any bigger!

even just in the last couple of days, she's been sitting up on her own for several more minutes at a time!

here she is almost on all fours!

those cheeks are getting a little chubby!

da da da - 9.13.12

for a while, emery has been very vocal, but mostly with noises and grunts not syllables. and about two weeks ago, she added some high-pitched squeals to the mix. starting about that same time, she would occasionally babble syllables, but only when she was crying: "waaaaaaah, ya ya ya ya." and this week she started babbling syllables as part of her regular babbling. i've heard: ba ba ba, ya ya ya, gla gla gla, na na na, and our favorite: da da da. even still when she's mad, she'll cry: da da da da. she loves her daddy :) maybe she'll save ma ma ma for when she's happy!
