eleven months old - 1.27.13
emery annabelle is 11 months old! she has spent over a month in her new bedroom and she loves it. the transition to sleeping out of her sleep sack has been great - she loves rolling all over her bed and has discovered the joy of sleeping on her tummy. and sleeping cross-ways. and sleeping on her side. and sleeping every which way. every time i look at her on the monitor, she's laying a different direction. she's also discovered the fun of jumping on her bed and will hold on the crib sides and jump jump jump!
she has four teeth now - the two on the top came in a few weeks ago. and we are starting to see a third one on the top left (her left).
emery eats all sorts of table food and likes a lot of things. it's easier to list the things she doesn't like: tuna, raw tomatoes, plain avocado (though she tolerates it sometimes), and some types of plain bread. she does better when things she likes are offered in between bites of things she doesn't like as much.
emery is starting to repeat things we say to her. she can say "hi kitty" (though it sounds like "hi key"), "wow," "mama," "dada," "hi," "kick," and sorta repeats other syllables when she wants to.
she raises her hands above her head when we say "touchdown!" - i guess i didn't realize that other babies do this in response to the question: how big are you? "so big!" she loves to clap, she's started waving, and i've finally gotten her to sign "more" but it looks mostly like a clap. her favorite face to make is the big open mouth, wide open eyes, gasping look that's just too stinkin' cute. she and i make that face at each other in the mirror when we wash our hands. when we wash our hands, i wash her right hand and then say, "give me the other hand," and she brings it around from behind my shoulder. such a smartie. and when i ask: "is it snowing?" she'll look at the window! genius child, i know.
her two favorite "toys" to hold and carry around are gift cards and chapstick. two very convenient toys when all i have with me is my purse. in some of the pictures below, she's holding her nice-smelling diaper cream. our favorite one is blueberry crumble - it makes her smell so yummy!

snow - 1.24.13
when i ask emery: "is it snowing?" she looks to the window, even to the window at my parents house - she's so smart! ok, i know an answer to the question would be even smarter, but she's learning. usually the answer is, of course, "no" to the snow, but yesterday, there was snow! so after lunch, we bundled up and went outside. emery wasn't too sure what to think about the cold snow, but she didn't hate it (no crying). it was too cold to stay out too long, so we just sat in the snow, took some pictures, and came back inside. she touched the snow and tried to crawl in it too. when the air is a little warmer on a snow day, we'll have a little more fun outside.
once we came back inside, we had a little wardrobe trouble! (and no, i don't mean the crazy socks with the crazy pants!)

emery in the new year - 01.22.13
here are some recent pictures of emery and the fun she's been having at our new house.
emery found an escape route between the couch and the chair... she was surprised that i caught her when she got to the other side!
a few weeks ago, emery dressed up to support the Mason basketball team (from home) - she loves her fuzzy Mason socks!
emery shared some yummy dessert with gramma for her 70th birthday!
emery loves mommy's new headband and amazon giftcard. she also like to carry around (and chew on) her christmas card from avi alan and avia jo.
blake discovered that it's almost as much fun to put the baby in the basket as it was to put the kitty in it.
emery had an appointment with the cardiologist (everything is a-ok!). she was a great patient and definitely the cutest in a hospital gown!
on saturday, we went to emery's first Mason basketball game. she had a blast, especially when she got to play with auntie cindy!
emery had all her Mason gear on for the game!
today, emery practiced using a fork to eat lunch. or maybe she just practiced holding it.
while i emptied the dishwasher, emery played quietly - which a more experienced mom would know meant she was getting in to something. she found the photo album from my trip to israel. good thing she still hasn't discovered markers or scissors yet!

emery's first christmas - 12.25.12
emery enjoyed her first christmas at gramma and grandpa's house! she wasn't too sure what to do with the presents, but she enjoyed pulling things off the table onto the floor and always keeping a close eye on kitty.
