olympics - 7.28.12

emery is enjoying her very first summer olympics! she's watched cycling, swimming, archery, beach volleyball, fencing, and badminton all on the first day!

five months - 7.27.12

emery is five months old today! and to celebrate, they're holding a very large ceremony in London! how nice of them!

emery can roll from her back to her tummy - both ways, to her right and to her left. but she's better going to her left. she can roll from her tummy to her back - both ways, to her right and to her left. but she sometimes seems like she forgets how, or maybe doesn't want to. often, when she's on her tummy and begins to fuss, i flip her to her back and she rolls right back to her tummy. clearly, she's not fussing because she can't flip - she wants to move! in the last week, she started pushing up on her arms, straightening them as high as she can go. she can even do a 180-degree turn on her tummy if you give her long enough to scoot and squirm. she's started sitting better (in the boppy pillow) - still wobbly, but she can change her position pretty well.

she's a sweetie and we're so happy to celebrate 5 months of emery annabelle!

girl push-up - 7.22.12

now that emery rolls over and spends more time on her tummy, she's getting much stronger and much more comfortable in this position. she's starting to work on her girl push-ups.

emery learning to sit up - 7.13.12

last week, i put emery in the boppy to see how well she could sit up and i was surprised at how stable she was the first time we tried it. of course, she wobbles and topples over, but she looks comfortable and seems to enjoy the upright vantage point. it's much better than lying on her back!

this video isn't the most thrilling video ever, but it shows bunny being such a big girl sitting up! :)

emery's "g" sounds - 6.24.12

emery was working on her "g" sounds a few weeks ago. (they have since turned into growling noises as you heard here.) so we practiced saying "grandma" a few times and it sounds like she's really trying! :)

emery growling - 7.07.12

for months, emery has been making gurgling noises when she "talked," but saturday morning, she started making a funny growling noise instead. so i asked: "what does the tiger say?" and she growled! "what does the lion say?" and she growled! too bad i also asked: "what did the mailbox say?" and she growled all the same. haha. of course, i'm not really sure what the answer to that question would be - maybe they do growl. :)

emery rolling tummy to back - 7.10.12

about 2 weeks ago, emery initiated rolling back to tummy all on her own. she rolled and rolled and rolled. but of course, she'd get to her tummy, flail around, get mad, and cry. then i'd flip her over and she'd roll back. then over a week ago, she stopped rolling! it's like she forgot about that new skill. or maybe she realized that it got her nowhere and she decided not to do it anymore! so for the past few days, we've been practicing rolling both ways, and monday night, she finally figured out how to roll on her own the other way - tummy to back!

independence day - 7.04.12

avia jo and avi alan sent emery a very patriotic 4th of july outfit, complete with cute flipflops!

while emery and i waited in the air conditioned car for blake to pick up lunch, emery was practicing her patriotic songs! O say! can you see?

celebrations - 6.17.12 & 6.20.12

we celebrated blake's first father's day on june 17th.

we celebrated tiffanie's, um, 22nd? birthday on june 20th :)
