Delaney Alina is Three Years Old - 07.31.2022

Delaney Alina is three years old!

Our sweet girl is three! She loves pretending with small toys and dolls. She loves to wear costumes and play dress up. She loves our kitties, Ginny and Bree. And we are fostering a small kitten for a few weeks, Treeo, and he's just her size (2.5 lbs!). She also loves puppies and babies.

We volunteer at a kitty shelter a couple of times a week, and Delaney is eager to help clean and play with the kitties. She is sweet and gentle. 

Delaney can read about 25 words and spell probably 15 of them: Zoo, Big, Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Brown, Orange, Green, Purple, Love, Emery, Everett, Delaney, Alina, Blake, Tiffanie, Ginny, Bree, Cat, Delivery, and more I can't remember. She has figured out how to read letters from left to right. She read the word Delivery on the side of a building - she likes words that resemble her name. She was looking at a book while we were driving in the car and described to me: "It's a doctor car for when you're hurting" - which was an ambulance! A great description!

Delaney speaks very well. She still uses a W for L sounds and her name is still Dewaney :) Her blending of A-R sounds a little more like O or A-W. It's hard to describe. Park sounds like Powk.  

Delaney took a while to potty train. Until about a month ago, she wasn't totally reliable with when she needed to or didn't need to go. She's now good except for sleeping (naps and bedtime). This is a similar timeline to Emery. We have taken the side off her crib to make a toddler bed more than once, but at nap/bedtimes she will run all around and refuse to stay in the bed, so the rail went back on. She can't climb out. Eventually it'll need to come off for good!

Delaney is independent and fun. She stays out of most bickering between her siblings, although depending on the situation, she will take sides with one or the other. Then go play by herself. She also loves to snuggle (most of the time). She sings made-up songs, and twirls, and is almost always wearing a dress. But Delaney loves playing in the dirt and mud with Emery. She loves playgrounds and jumping on our trampoline. She loves Paw Patrol and received several fun Paw Patrol toys for her birthday.

This girl is spicy and sweet and she is going places!
