Since moving to Wyoming over a year ago, we Virginians have experienced new things like snow on Everett's October 10 birthday and snow on Everett's April 10 half birthday!
Everett is picking up several new words and doing a much clearer job repeating words. He pointed to a basketball game on TV and in a separate instance to a toy basketball hoop and said: "ba-bah." He can say: "dee" (please), "dee-dee" with proper inflection (excuse me), "die" (light), "alp" (help), "dih dow" (sit down), "cookie" (cooking), "nigh" (nice), "doh" (phone), "eye-pah" (ipad), "Ev-ah" (Everett), "daw-dee" (doggie), and "ca-cuh-die" (crocodile - from one of his favorite books). Also, he switched from saying "uck" for "up" and now says it correctly.
Toward the end of my work day, he starts declaring "koo, koo" (school, school) because he knows when I'm finished we go pick up Emery at school. He's also getting very good at understanding instructions - choosing to do those things is hit or miss, but he definitely understands! :)
Everett is finally has the teeth on either side of the two in the middle on top and on bottom. Both to his left are in and he's still working on the ones to the right.
This month, Everett got his first haircut. His hair was getting decidedly shaggy and long, so we did a quick trim after his bath on Sunday night. We could use a little work in our hair-cutting skills, but we have to figure he'll need another one again soon enough.
This month, Everett learned that he's going to have a baby sister in August. He's thrilled - as thrilled as a clueless toddler can be. ;)
Recently, we watched ice skating and gymnastics. While watching ice skating, Everett turned in circles and was mesmerized by the show. While watching gymnastics, he put his hands and head on the ground and toppled over. It's so cute to watch him try to mimic the athletes!
Everett has been taking a 1.5-2 hour nap in the late morning and then sometimes will lay down again after we've picked up Emery at 3pm. It's tough to fit in two naps anymore, but sometimes we can swing it. If he'd nap longer in his first nap, the later one wouldn't be as necessary.
We're so happy to celebrate our little guy's half birthday today!
