Everett has spent the last month getting used to eating regular foods and he's just starting to come around in the last week or two. At the beginning, he gagged and made faces and not much actually went down (it dribbled out onto his bib!). But he has gained interest in what we were eating, and it turns out he seems to like big people food more than pureed food. He's had chicken, noodles, peaches, peas, blueberries, chips, bagel, cheerios, cucumbers, strawberries, cottage cheese, yogurt, bananas, and crackers and probably a few other things. He's still learning to chew and swallow of course, but things are going much better now than when we started about a month and a half ago.
Everett has started to army crawl on his elbows or with his head on the ground. He's relatively fast at getting where he wants to go. He can go up on all fours, but hasn't been able to lift one arm at a time to do a traditional crawl. He still cannot sit up, though I was able to snap a couple of pictures of him sitting before he toppled - and that's one of the first times he's stayed put in a sitting position. He seems too interested in everything around him to stay seated!
Everett has started to say "Ma ma ma" very clearly. We know he doesn't really know what it means, but it's still sweet to hear. Sometimes it's "Em ma" or "Ah ma" - so we like to think that's going to be "Emery." He's started with the Bbbbbb sound, and I assume that will turn to "Ba ba ba" pretty soon. Sorry, Daddy, no "Da" sound yet.
When I get him up from sleeping, he does a cute dolphin kick with his feet and has a huge smile on his face. It's such a sweet welcome!
We love this sweet little guy!
Everett's eyes are turning hazel!
