Everett Matthew is six months old!
This month, Everett started eating food: sweet potatoes, avocado, pickles, and peaches. He liked being able to hold onto and chew on the pickle, the other three were not winners. He seems to have a little trouble swallowing (the bib wears most of it!), and perhaps the texture is still too new. I guess we'll keep trying new foods and maybe we'll find something he enjoys!
Everett is great at rolling over and over to travel across the floor. He's even trying to travel forward by putting his head and neck on the floor and pushing forward with his feet. He can push up on straight arms, but he can't seem to put all of these pieces together into a crawl! We're ok with that for now!
We've transitioned to naps in a looser swaddler - it's a stretchy peanut-shaped sleeper (with arms and legs in) rather than a tight wrap. We tried naps totally unswaddled and it was not successful, so this is a good middle ground.
I think when he's been upset, I've heard a declarative "Ma!" sound, but he's not adding many consonant sounds just yet. "A-goo" and "goo" are his main sounds so far.
This month, Everett celebrated his first Easter. Blake's folks came to visit and play with the kids. Emery hunted for Easter eggs, Everett drooled on his grandparents. Also, Everett and I traveled to Chicago to visit some friends this past weekend. He was great on the earlier-in-the-day flights on the way there which were better than the later-in-the-evening flights on the way home. He was a delight all weekend. A few months ago when he was screaming and crying nearly all the time, we would have never imagined he'd be so calm, sweet, EASY, and delightful by this age! What a huge change.
At his six month check up on April 17, Everett was 14lbs 0.5oz (3rd percentile) and 26.5 inches (39th percentile).
We're excited to see this little guy continue to grow in the second half of this year. Happy Half-y Birthday, little boy!
This is his newest attempt at crawling!
Emery took this picture. It's hard to take pictures while tickling, so I was grateful for my sweet photo assistant.
