Everett Matthew is thirteen months old!
Just in the last month, Everett has picked up several new words! He's communicating so much more in such a short amount of time.
He can say go-guh [yogurt], cah-cuh [cracker], ah duh [all done], ah-da [Emery/Emma], dada [daddy and we think this is also used for mommy even though he can say mama], mo [more], dih da [fig bar - which is a snack he loves], ba [ball], doh [throw], dra [drop], deux [book], ett ett [eat eat], no no no no no, and probably some more we haven't figured out!
Just this week, he started using the "more" sign more consistently. He pats his tummy in response to "are you hungry?" and also to "do you need a diaper change?" He has picked up the sign for "water" only using one finger tapping his lips (the sign uses three fingers in the shape of the letter W). His sign for "milk," "bye-bye," and "night night" are all exactly the same - and wave with one or both hands.
If we say "where's the ball?" Everett will hide a ball behind his back and then pull it out. Emery did this trick too, and it's so cute! He will also roll a ball back and forth with us on the floor. He's good at throwing a ball too. He can put toys into cups and nest toys in larger toys. He has also started pretending to talk on the phone - with phones, remotes, magnets, and other toys in that general size/shape. This week, I asked him if he could say "grandma," and he pretended to talk on the phone!
Everett has not been convinced that walking will ever be faster than crawling, and mostly he even refused to hold our hands and practice walking. Though when he does, he's relatively sturdy on his feet.
He can climb onto and over most barriers we set up for him, so his world has opened up - i.e., he can now explore our kitchen. He's really enjoying playing with water bottles, cupboard doors, drawers, the pantry door and its contents, and discovering food he's thrown on the floor under his high chair! He also likes to throw things in the trash can - whether or not they belong in there!
For Halloween, Emery and Everett dressed up as Princess Tiana and the Frog Prince. His pacifier says, "Kiss me!"
We're so grateful for this wonderful little guy!
