easter & thirteen months old - 3.27.13
emery annabelle is thirteen months old! if i don't write this down here, it won't get recorded. so here we go - no more number shirts, but we can still take cute pictures. it's easter week, so our thirteen month pictures include bunny ears!
emery can take several steps, but still has trouble stopping. it's clear that she's feeling more and more confident, but still has a little ways to go to be a true walker.
*edited to add: i spoke too soon - an hour or so later, emery took off from the couch and walked by herself (with no promise of being caught - we were eating at the table). now she seems perfectly confident to venture out on her own!
she can say: "huh-wizzy" (who is it?/where is it?), "i-dih-dih" (i did it!), "bah-puh" (diaper), "buh buh buh" (banana), "ah gah" (all gone), "bah" (bath), "ma ma ma" (more - not mama!), "beer" (bear), hi, daddy, ball, and other words i can't understand! she still signs: "milk" and "more."
she has really started to purposefully make us laugh and she laughs at things that are out of place or odd (the ball is on my nose or the toy is on my head), rather than just tickles or peek-a-boo. she can hide things behind her head and pull them out when i say, "where is it?" she's started to hide behind things and pop out - which makes her laugh. she peeks through her toys - which is also funny.
she loves her teddy bear and Peter Rabbit lovie. when i say: "aawwww," she tilts her head to the side. she also lays on the living room floor with her teddy bear as a pillow.
in my opinion, this kid is stinkin' cute!

emery the leftie - 03.13.13
avia jo taught emery to throw the ball on the count of three. she's doing a great job learning when to throw, although placing the ball on top of her head is equally as fun. as you can see, we probably have a leftie baby - she even switches balls but throws with her left hand both times. she always has to have something in both hands!

1st birthday party - 03.02.13
on saturday, march 2nd, we had a small dinner party for emery's first birthday. we were so happy that blake's parents and brother were visiting from wyoming and able to share emery's special day. missy and her older girls, cindy and mallory, and my parents also came to celebrate with emery! we had tacos for dinner and then let emery smash her very own cake! after cake, emery opened her presents. the evening was a lot of fun with friends and family!
my HS friend is a cake decorator and we asked her to match a cake to our plates. she did an amazing job! and the cake was super yummy too!
emery got her very own little pink smash cake.

lamb pictures - 03.27.12 to 02.27.13
at emery's monthly photo sessions, we took her picture next to her lamb. they may not all be at the same angle, but you can see how much she grew over her first year!

emery annabelle is one! - 02.27.13
emery annabelle is one year old today! what a blessing this girl has been to us for a whole year.
"i prayed for this child, and the Lord heard my prayer." 1 samuel 1:27.
emery is almost walking. she can take several steps, but she can't stop herself, so it ends up being a game of: step-step-step-CATCH ME! we need to be quick or she falls over.
we've started to switch her over to whole milk instead of formula and in a sippy cup instead of a bottle. neither transition is being done cold turkey - we've been mixing whole milk in with formula for about a week and she's had a few full servings of milk only. also she's been working on drinking from a sippy cup and does that a couple times a day when we have some extra time because it takes her longer. i think the two transitions will be complete in a week or two.
she can correctly sign "more," although it's possible she thinks it means "more cheerios." she's signed "please" a few times with much prompting (please say please!) and she likes to sign "eat" complete with pretend chewing.
she can say: "tay-cue" (Thank you), "uh too free" (one, two, three), "ma ma ma" (more), "gee" (Mickey), "chee" (cheese), "hey" (hair), "puh" (please), "key" (kitty), "raa-raw" (grandma), "suh" (soft), "nah nah nah" (no no no), "Hi," and "Daddy." and probably some others. most of what she says is repeating what i say and not much in context yet.
she knows the answer to "what does the sheep say?" "baa baa baa baa." but that's the same answer she'll give to "what does the pig say?" and "what does the duck say?" also, if i ask her "where is your hair?" she'll touch her hair.
she's stopped calling me mommy and now calls me "tt" or "chi-chi." i'm not sure where that came from other than me affectionately calling her "tt" on occasion.
we're having a small party for her on saturday. she'll have her first taste of birthday cake!
emery would not sit still at her photo session today.

cute bunny videos - 02.24.13
emery can answer the question: "what does the sheep say?" (the answer is the same if i ask: "what does the pig say?" so, knowing the answer, we stick with the right question - sorta like jeopardy.)
emery really likes dancing. she also likes changing the songs on her activity table piano.
